Aït Ben Haddou
Located in the foothills on the southern slopes of the High Atlas in the Province of Ouarzazate, the site of Ait-Ben-Haddou is the most famous ksar in the Ounila Valley. The Ksar of Aït-Ben-Haddou, a well-preserved clay fortified city along the former caravan route between the Sahara and Marrakech in Morocco, is a striking example of southern Moroccan architecture. It has earned the UNESCO World Heritage Site status in 1987.
Many MOVIES are filmed here, including: Lawrence Of Arabia (1962), Jesus of Nazareth (1977), Jewel of the Nile (1985), The Last Temptation of Christ (1988), The Mummy (1999), Gladiator (2000), Alexander (2004), Babel (2006), Prince of Persia (2010), even the TV series Game of Thrones, just to name a few. This is a must-see stop on your way from Marrakesh to the Sahara. Read more about recent file shootings HERE.
